Dear members,
Please find in this post some pictures of our cycads ollection. I will try to post some today and purchase latter when the weather outside will permit nice views.
Our botanical garden is also a zoological garden. This place is located in south-east of France between Marseille and Monte-Carlo. The sea isn t to far (1,5 km) and the climate is mediterranean with hot and dry summer and cool and wet winter. Frost occur every year and the minima are located in the minus 5°C (23°F). The historical heaviest frost was -15°C (5°C). Such temperatures can comeback again (they will) so our plantation are focus on frost hardy plants.
Maybe cycads aren't the harder plants to grown. C. revoluta is commun in our costal area and may withstand low temperatures. We introduice few years ago C. panzhihuaensis. Some large plants are available and imported from Costa-Rica (I hope so). We planted some. We also try C. taiwanensis and C. taitugensis.
Anyway...
